St Clement Danes is superbly located for class trips and the teachers make full use of the opportunities on our doorstep.
Children regularly visit a range of art galleries including the Tate, The National Gallery and Somerset House. Classes are familiar with historical collections at the British Museum, Benjamin Franklin House and The Sir John Soane's Museum. Teachers also make good use of locations that promote science and technology and children have visited the London Transport Museum and the Science Museum.
Teachers often use the built and natural environment around the school. Children go on local walks where they soak up the atmosphere of Covent Garden market (a minute away) or they take sketch books down to the Thames (five minutes away) to draw the stunning cityscape.
The creative arts programme at the school has led to children performing in a range of impressive venues. Children have visited the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. Some events with a religious focus have taken children to St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.
Once a year Year 6 children visit Sayer’s Croft, an outdoor activity centre, which nurtures their understanding and enjoyments of the countryside.
