Sayers Croft - Day 2

Posted on: 03/10/2023

After a tasty cooked breakfast, we welcomed a special visitor, Mrs Leonard, who guest judged our first dorm inspection.

This morning Year 6 sharpened their skills on the archery range. They also took on the Challenge Course – working as a team through ‘Crystal Maze’ style challenges to retrieve a key and escape the course!

Our afternoon began with another orienteering adventure in the woods - this time armed only with a compass. The next activity was constructing Roman ballista catapults and launching water-soaked balls at a target! We then visited the on-site souvenir shop to stock up on Sayers Croft merch.

This evening we went underground to an original WWII air raid shelter where we learnt about how Sayers Croft provided safe refuge for children evacuated from London during the Blitz. Then we headed off on an exciting night walk, exploring the deep dark woods!

Our happy campers ended the night with some peaceful stargazing and are looking forward to their big walk up Pitch Hill tomorrow!
