Last term, Year 3 read the text One Plastic Bag within their English lessons.

Through exploring the text, the children learnt more about plastic pollution and the impact that it has on the environment. This got Year 3 thinking and they decided to use their knowledge to help make a difference!

Year 3 spent some time researching different supermarkets and what each supermarket is currently doing to reduce plastic pollution. Each child wrote a persuasive letter to a supermarket of their choice. Within their letters, they described what plastic pollution is, thanked the supermarkets for what they are doing already and then offered suggestions for further improvement. 

 

 

 

Year 3 were thrilled to return to school this week to two replies! Both Sainsbury's and Tesco have replied to the letters that were sent. The children were excited to read that both supermarkets were hoping to further reduce their plastic pollution, and had thanked Year 3 for their informative letters.
